Terence Hoerman: Supporting Youth Sports

Terence Hoerman has a background as a basketball player, and he was able to get to a level that most people can never attain. He played collegiately for Benoit College in Wisconsin, and he earned a letter not once, but twice. While he was there, he had the foresight to obtain a coaching certificate, because he knew that he could stay connected to the game after he put his playing days behind him if he could become a coach.

As it turned out, he went in a different direction as his life as a student continued to unfold. He got an undergraduate degree from DePauw University, and he subsequently went to the University of Detroit Law School. For over 20 years he has been operating his own private law firm in downtown Detroit.

Though his work as a lawyer is demanding, Terence Hoerman was stayed true to his basketball roots. He has been coaching at the high school level since 2014. Seaholm High School is in Birmingham, Michigan, a city that is about 30 minutes outside of Detroit by car. He is the head coach of the girls junior varsity team there. He has the opportunity to apply his experience and expertise in an effort to help players develop their skills so that they can move on to the varsity squad when the time is right. In addition to his work as a high school coach, he is also a board member and program director for the Grosse Pointe Farms-City Little League, so Terence Hoerman does a great deal to contribute to youth sports in his community.
